The idea for Woodland Paws came about in 2012 to commemorate our beloved family dog Nancy, and share the genuine love of dogs and passion that I have for caring for them through offering services to other dog owners.
After a few years of keeping all the dogs to myself, Paul – my partner in crime, decided that he wanted in on the fun. Since then our team has grown further and together, we have 30 years of combined experience with breeds of all kinds.
We welcome dogs and puppies of all shapes, sizes and personalities.
I have always loved dogs! For as long as I can remember. So, when I eventually convinced mum to let us have Nancy I was hooked, she was the love of my life. She taught me a great deal and took me down the path of studying behaviour and training techniques. It was when we lost her this huge hole appeared. I missed her dearly and so took comfort in dogs I knew. Fast forward a couple of months and again dogs had become my life, my passion and now my job.
We now have 4 more furry children who I could not be without, Zak, Gus, Ellie and Immy. Learning about nutrition, wellness and behaviour are now my out of ‘work’ hobbies, along with Scentwork and Flyball.
Dogs are well and truly my life!
After working many sales jobs, his last being at the dreaded Cobalt – Paul decided he’d had enough of the corporate world, and wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle. He had listened to my stories about all our extended family of dogs for years and wanted to be part of it. In the depths of rain and mud season Paul swapped his suits and ties for wellies and waterproofs. He’s definitely the soft one and is more than up for helping the dogs – whether that be finding lost tennis balls, or teaching them how to swim. He’s always up for being more dog.
Reece being family has peskied me to come and be part of the team for as long as I can think back…. As soon as he hit 18, I gave him a trial run, see what he thought. Reece had been to Kirkley Hall studying Animal Management, and worked in the local groomers until he could get in with dog walking. So I knew his passion and love were there. Covid put a spanner in the works getting him out in his own van. So he jumped in with Me and Paul, learned the ropes, inside and out, before he passed his driving test and he was away. He’s beats Uncle Paul in being soft, so he’s often heard in the house, and caught on ring doorbells being an absolute sap. The dogs love him!!
After seeing our advert for a new member of the team Kate couldn’t help but apply. After learning so much from her family dog Ruby, a staffie (she’s got a super soft spot for them) she knew having dogs in her life everyday was essential. Kate visited Guide Dog HQ and volunteered for the Cinnamon Trust, as Covid had other idea’s in her grand plan, and put Dog Walking for WP on hold. However fast forward so fast forward a year and a half later, many pesky emails to Beth and Kate was in! Kate is forever asking for ways to improve her walks, and further her knowledge, so we all have to keep one step ahead with the learning.
“The love and knowledge the team have for the dogs is infectious, but it’s the furry friends I spend everyday with that have taught me the most. I just love my job and being part of Woodland Paws!”
